Sitelab's
test method is very simple. Using our disposable test kits, soil, sediment or groundwater samples are quickly prepared
and analyzed in only a few minutes, as illustrated below:
|
|
|
Testing Soil?
Soil samples
are weighed
onto a digital scale and placed into a jar for extraction.
Testing Water?
Water samples
are
first shaken up, measured out and then poured into an
extraction jar.
|
|
2. Add Solvent
Methanol solvent is measured out and then added to each jar.
The extraction jars are shaken by hand for several minutes,
giving the solvent ample time to dissolve and extract the
hydrocarbons.
|
|
3. Filter Extract
A syringe is used to suck up the
extract, which is then passed through a specialized filter
to remove particulates and potential interferences.
|
|
4. Dilute Extract
Sitelab’s adjustable pipette is then used to dilute the
extract into a second test tube for analysis, in order for
the sample to be detected within the linear range of the
calibration curve.
|
|
5. Test Sample
The
sample is
poured into a glass cuvette and then placed into the analyzer
for analysis. After a few seconds, the sample's
concentration is displayed.
Final results are calculated by multiplying the
reading by the dilution factor.
